There are several Office application suits available for Linux OS platform, some of which are Kingsoft Office 2013, LibreOffice, and OpenOffice. For those that use Microsoft Office Suit on a daily basis on a Windows machine and would like to have the same look and feel on your Ubuntu machine, then Microsoft Office Web Apps is your best bet.
Thanks to Dejan Petrovic, he has developed and provided a DEB package for the Microsoft Web Apps. Installing the Microsoft Web Apps DEB package, will create Microsoft Office Apps shortcuts on your machine.
Please note that the Microsoft Office Web Apps DEB package, is an unofficial project that was put together by Dejan Petrovic for the sole purpose of helping Linux (Ubuntu based distro) users have quick access to Microsoft Online Apps. The DEB package creates the following shortcuts on your Ubuntu desktop machine, Word Document, Excel Spreadsheet, Outlook Email, Cloud OneDrive, Calendar, OneNote, People and PowerPoint Presentation, including other elements of the ecosystem of Microsoft. These shortcuts will use your default web browser to enable you gain access to the application.
